a few months ago, th Lord told me to pack up my stuff…so i been steadily packin up my stuff and lookin forward to th newness of life…everythin in Christ is an adventure and i love bein in new places knowin Christ more and more as He reveals Himself in each different circumstance…

im packin, tossin stuff and knowin what i wanna keep, knowin th Lord leadin in this as in all thangs…and i been speakin to Him about somehthin thats really settled in me only recently…

i was lookin on pinterest fa some organizing ideas….i dont have much and im quick to toss stuff i dont use…even so, what i keep has to be organized or ima lose my mind…so i was skimmin across th pinterest everythang page, like i usually do, when i slowed down and really took a look at th page …i dont usually look at all th stuff on pinterest but this time i did…and when i finally got to th end of it, i was really saddened by what i saw…

i speak as a former prisoner, as a former captive to th world…not as an innocent commenter on someone else’s life…back in th day, before Christ (my B.C. life), i was an artist and artists are always concerned wit how stuff looks and they see themselves as creators, as authors, as ppl who have invented and gave life to something…

years ago i use to watch hgtv…one episode i was watching was on bathroom upgrades…they showed a toilet where inside th toilet bowl, was a intricate and colorful mosaic of a quaint chinese fishing village …imagine it…th panorama of th inside of th toilet bowl was this really beautiful piece of mosaic art…as i was lookin at it, th Lord spoke to me…He said…if u stay here, you will end up thinkin this is a good thang and u will want it…and in that moment He delivered me…

i have since seen hgtv but its different now…i see their designs as over th top, as unnecessary and as undesirable and im still amazed how th Lord worked that in me and set me free…

so im speakin here as one who has been delivered from th pretense at creativity that such images promise…while in fact they only make slaves…

its not pinterest (or hgtv) thats th problem…its that we have become as a society –so indulged and so given over to flesh that every inch of our bodies, every meal we cook, every hairstyle, every outfit and every interior design has to stroke that fleshly nature and beckon it…even food gardening, which once upon a time was a way to feed families, has taken on a different slant and now even gardens need a little bling to keep up interest…

according to what i saw on pinterest…nail polish has evolved into an art medium…both finger AND toe-nails wear glitter, gems, intricate artwork and designs that could hang in th louvre…hair is braided or woven in complex designs while in th same time callin itself natural and tryna look a little careless… fashion as always is front and center–not style, but fashion–that thang that comes outta someone else’s mind and tries to land in everyone’s closet…and while anyone with any body shape can have their own style, fashion is created for certain unreal and specific body proportions and most of th population has to be trussed up, starved and squeezed to fit into em… clothes should adorn th body, but they exploit it, and do their best to remind everyone that ur body is too whatever (fat, thin, tall, short, etc) since th flaw is never wit th fashion or designer …

some of us have kids –or know kids–who are gonna be swayed by these constant images…and they are growin up in a society that seems bent on makin every inch of their bodies, every room in their homes, and every meal they prepare, an indulgence…its not enough to be dressed, to have a clean home or have a place for everything, to make a killer mac n cheese or a great chocolate cake or fried chicken …nope…now its all gotta be a little glammed up…i seen ppl buy houses with upgraded kitchens and turn around and order take out cuz they dont cook, but tht 5 burner staineless steel stove was their must have– for resale value…i know women who spend a small fortune on their hairstyle but budget hard on their food and go to bed hungry…and i know from lookin at all these pins on pinterest…somethins really wrong here…

why cant a cake be a cake? why it gotta look like a building or a purse or be soooooooooooo ornate, that only hard core professionals can make em?  why is it that crockpots are for families too busy to layer a lasagna in a pan so they gotta throw it all in a crockpot to eat it like soup at the end of th day, but in th same time, makin cupcakes requires special skills and tools to decorate em…i mean… its easier to layer th lasagna…seriously…

when i see these thangs published and know my nieces are gonna be influenced by it, thinkin this is important and lookin way too hard at their SELF in order to fit in, makes me really sad…i dont want my nieces growin up tryna make every inch of their body into an erogenous zone–which is where u headin when every inch of ur body and every square inch of ur home has to be decorated to appeal to flesh… how did we get from havin furniture tht matched to havin blingy kitchens with appliances described as ‘sexy’ and why is that sooooooo important????

everythin dont have to be decorated…its really ok if ur toenails arent painted at all, let alone sportin a santa cap and bell to match ur purse…and ur food dont have to look like anythin but what it is…and its really ok if u dont make individual whatevers so everyone can have their own…i mean…its why phrases like “pass th cornbread” were invented…one bowl of whatever use to serve a whole family and whoever else showed up…

i love to cook and bake…and if u cant tell alreday…i dont do party food….im not tryna make one or two of whatever for each person eatin at my table so everyone got a taste and walk away hungry…fa me, meals are times to conversate, to break bread together, to enjoy th ppl u share it with… meals should satisfy both health and hunger, but not indulge either…meals are after all, just food and nothin more…food shouldnt be so elevated that it becomes more than what it is…its just food…

in Christ, and by Christ we see th world as it is– glaring darkness…indulgence rules in th empire of th spirit of this world…its why flesh is all important and why one cant possibly endure a formica countertop when theres granite to be had instead…i mean, in a few years, granites gonna be th shag carpet of th 60s…its gonna be dated and undesireable and ppl gonna go thru houses and say…oh but look its got granite…we gonna have to repalace bc its so outdated…

th Spirit of God is my counselor and leads me into all truth and i know He wont lost me in this flesh-indulgent world, but i grieve for those who are yet caught in it…some who even claim to know Christ…theres something really unsettling when someone claims to belong to th Lord Jesus Christ, but is every bit as worldly as pinterest…its not possible to boast th simplicity of Christ who is the Truth, and chase an un-true lifestyle at th same time…

th spirit of of this world is darkness…everything it offers is bondage…theres no liberty in feedin flesh and theres no glory in it either…

so while sites like pinterest seem to free our creativity, in fact u find urself enslaved to th fleshly adamic nature that demands everything  look, smell, sound, taste and feel “good”… remmy eve in th garden? she said th fruit [of death] looked good to eat and to make one wise…

those who are in Christ and not chasin th pinterest life…u will be pitied fa ur lack and nobody will understand ur liberty…but hang in there…th Lord is yet delivering His ppl outta th bondage of this present darkness…and many who are now trapped in flesh will find their liberty in Christ and will be brought outta darkness into His marvelous light– just like we were…

theres def hope in Christ…

Love this too! I laughed@ “oh no, they’ve got granite counters!”.. lol! But its true.. its really a ridiculous process, people worrying about whats “in” or “out”.. and so true about Pinterest and HGTV.. I recently left these things too. HGTV always made me want more or better.. “oh no, my house needs crown molding!”.. and Pinterest does trap us into flesh, and we get caught up in the sensual things. Nothing religious here though.. no principle to abide by here.. just the full work of the Lord. He brings us through it, and right out of it and makes Himself known.
