2 women…

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.  And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.  But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.  And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are careful and troubled about many things:   But one thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.  Luke 10:38-42

i love this story… bc tho we see 2 different women here, its really a description of th old nature and th new; th old man born of flesh and th new creation born of ht Spirit…they are seen as 2 separates bc th Lord separates th old from th new, th dead from th living, th sheep from th goats…

notice martha, th old nature, is cumbered (dragged around) about much serving (waiting in attendance, serving)…she is bound and complains to th Lord that her sister mary has left her and isnt serving at all, but has left th work of serving to martha alone…and she wants th Lord to make mary help martha…which would also mean that mary would have to return from where she is, at th feet of Jesus…

but th Lord makes this distinction btwn them…that martha is troubled about many thangs (much, as in much troubled; th cares of this world) ; but that mary has chosen th good part, which was to sit at His feet and hear His word…and also…that it wont be taken from her…He dont offer to help martha or change her situation, and He dont scold mary for not helping martha…each woman is in her place and He makes no change in their situation, except to define each one, martha as full of cares and troubled, disturbed; and mary seated at His feet (our rightful place) and hearing Him…

Jesus said He will receive all who th Father give Him, and none will be cast out…this is mary’s promise…that she is seated at th feet of Christ and hears Him…and it wont be taken (removed, cut off) from her–not even by th old nature…

those who attempt to serve Christ outta their flesh, doing many works and boasting in their own service, will find themselves without help…toiling and laboring alone and apart from Christ, since all our help comes from th Lord and not from anyone within our view who we decide should help us…

th world insists on the help of others and th flesh desires that th new creation to come to its aid and assistance, which it never will (see th rich man and lazarus)…th old man demands it–boasts in his work & abilities, but all is a pattern of th flesh which is perishing…

to th world, christians seem to exist for th sole purpose of giving to th world what th world lost by sin, without any regard for Christ, th cross, repentance and th new birth–th flesh of th world demands its due while continuing in sin…

anyone who has ever spent any time in a harlot assembly can attest to this one fact: that a handful of ppl do most if not all of th work of that business, that th work is all flesh and has nothing of Christ in it, and htat those who know th Lord and hear Him are oppressed by th pharisees and other religious leaders to serve them with whatever th Lord has gave em…

in fact, th harlot thinks herself entitled to th help of those in Christ, since she has no root in Christ and therefore, no help from th Lord…she opposes Christ in all thangs…yet bold faced & stiff necked robs Him thru His ppl…

but we who are born of th Spirit, remain in Him bc we are given to Him by th Father and He wont cast out any who th Father gives Him, neither will He lose one…

thats true security…it can be said of us also, that we have chosen th good part, to remain at His feet and hear Him…and it wont be taken from us…altho we know th choosing was His and not ours…
