“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom 10:16,17
(“Word” in this verse, comes from the word rhēma which means an utterance, and a saying)
Who would believe OUR report? We have shared the gospel with them and they believe not.. aha… but Faith comes by hearing (our ears are opened, the deaf hear).. and hearing comes BY the utterance of God.. God speaks, and we hear, and we believe.
“…I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.” Rom 10:20
We confess Him as Lord… not repeat…..or quote.. or recite an official prayer… but confession is made, revealing the new heart..
“Confess” in the dictionary means to own and to declare by way of revelation.
No man can confess He is Lord apart from the Spirit of God (1 Cor 12:3). He has made Himself manifest unto us, and has caused us to know Him.. out of this Truth dwelling in us.. we confess that He is Lord.
Its not the mouthspeak that saves us…any man can say He is Lord… but to confess it as Truth is another thing.. because He is alive, and He lives in us, and reigns in us… we confess what is true in us.
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power” Eph 1:17-19
Our deaf ears and our blind eyes are opened.. we testify what we have seen and heard… and out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The treasure in our heart that we speak of is Christ. (Luke 6:45)
